Scripture: Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Philippians 4:6

Of all the Christian disciplines, prayer is by far the one practiced the most. It is also probably the one most misunderstood. Prayer is basically communication. A two way conversation with our Creator. He made us because he wants to be in a relationship with us. We only get to know another person when we converse with them.

So many people regard prayer as an emergency button to press only when they have their backs to the wall. Yes, please run toward God when you make mistakes or have an emotional or physical need. Talk to God in the good and the bad times. Allow him to be a vital part of your life. Why? Because God is the very essence of life. It makes sense to me that I should be in touch with God, he knows everything!

Always remember to thank God for the wonderful privilege of prayer, the right to speak freely to the Holy Almighty God. Don’t forget to thank him for the mundane things you enjoy; food, shelter, clothing and transport. There is so much more. What can you think of?

Prayer: Dear God, you who hears my prayer, you have always been faithful to me. Make me faithful in my prayer life through your spirit. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Reflection:

It is my suggestion that you journal your thoughts and experiences, even your feelings, as a means of pondering what you have read, or allowing the blogpost to guide you. You may not accept or believe everything you read, but asking questions of the material and of yourself is the best way to learn.
