Scripture: Continue in your faith, established and firm, not moved from the hope held out in the gospel. Colossians 1:23
Life can be tough. The storms of you face and the threatening disasters can uproot and break down your faith making you feel vulnerable. The simple conflicts and problems of life can weaken you and sometimes what you are facing may seem just a little too much.
It is at times like these that it is important to remember that our faith is in Jesus Christ, the name to which every knee must bow and every tongue must confess that He is the Son of God. In Jude 1:20-21 we read; “But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith, by praying in the Holy Spirit, maintain yourselves in the love of God, while anticipating the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that brings eternal life.” It is therefore important to feed your faith so that your roots remain strong and firm.
Faith is a heart matter. It is our vital connection to our Saviour. It is a daily commitment to the Christian disciplines that sometimes seem to be time consuming but are so necessary. Not as a ritual but as a devotion of love to Jesus. You do this by worshipping God, reading and studying the Word of God, through prayer, quiet time, and regular fellowship with believers.
Keeping your faith deeply rooted is a life-long task in daily increments.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, Strengthen my faith as I walk with you each day. Teach me to hold on to you no matter what may come my way. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Reflection:
It is my suggestion that you journal your thoughts and experiences, even your feelings, as a means of pondering what you have read, or allowing the blogpost to guide you. You may not accept or believe everything you read, but asking questions of the material and of yourself is the best way to learn.
