Inner Strength

Scripture:  I pray that out of His glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being… being rooted and established in love. Ephesians 3:16-17

Inner strength can be developed when you are willing to make your commitment to God so real and practical that the Holy Spirit can work freely in your life.

Inner strength is a spiritual power given by the Holy Spirit that helps believers trust God, resist wrongdoing, and stay brave during tough times. It does not come from human effort alone, but from depending on God. It is part of our character development.

Three the ways in which inner strength can be developed are the following:

(See Blog 002) Committing yourself to an effective prayer life, a vital link of communication between yourself and God.

Regular time spent in God’s Word, trying to take in a chapter day. Whatever plan you follow for your bible reading, commit to it and follow through.

If you are going to read Christian literature ensure that it is true to God’s Word and does not add or detract from what the bible says.

You need the power and guidance of the Holy Spirit if you want to build inner strength. In my life the Holy Spirit speaks through my thoughts, the bible, and things I read, conversations I have and will sometimes even prick my conscience. Don’t lock yourself into a method, stay open to however the Holy Spirit may talk to you.

Developing inner strength helps you approach the future courageously, knowing God is holding your hand.

Prayer:  Dear Lord, I know that it is not only what I do that matters, but what you do through me. Please make me a useful instrument and grant me the strength for the demanding situations. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Reflection:

It is my suggestion that you journal your thoughts and experiences, even your feelings, as a means of pondering what you have read. Asking questions of the material and of yourself is the best way to learn. Use your journal to record your thoughts.
